Heading for the United Kingdom and restricted to 150 units at a price of £33 395 (R630 877), £2 815 (R52 240) more than the standard model, the Final Edition gets a slightly revised front bumper, blacked out lower front air intake, a more prominent rear wing and Final Edition badges on the doors.
Riding on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels and additionally fitted with yellow Brembo brake calipers, the Final Edition also receives an upgraded version of Subaru's Multi-Mode Drive Control Centre Differential said to improve cornering and road holding.
Changes inside are more prominent with a revised 5.9-inch infotainment system, gloss black inserts, Final Edition badges at the base of the gear lever, on the dashboard and steering wheel, commemorative plaque, red and black seats with red stitching and red seatbelts.
Underneath the bonnet, the 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four Boxer engine remains unchanged with outputs of 221 kW and 407 Nm of torque, fed to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
Subaru has meanwhile attributed the end of WRX STI production to investments in electric vehicles and its EyeSight driver assistance system, with the intention to combine both as early as 2021.
