By doing so the organisers raised the bar of the festival, which is now in its 11th year, making it a firm favourite with families and cheese and wine lovers alike.
"This year we had 7 000 visitors, which was a record attendance to the various events, including the gala evening with Steve Hofmeyr as star attraction," said festival organiser, Benita Milton. Many stallholders said they will be back again next year and some said were sold out of their products on Sunday morning.
"The best attendance was on Saturday and exhibitors say they were well supported; better than last year," said Milton.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, George Mayor Charles Standers said it was gratifying that the festival had continued to grow exponentially and pledged the municipality's continued support.
