GEORGE NEWS - Jade Sateria, a local youngster from Pacaltsdorp, has been appointed by the SABC as producer and presenter for the Afrikaans radio station, RSG.
Sateria (25), a former learner of New Dawn Park Primary and George High, started in the position on 9 January.
In a world where challenges often deter dreams, Sateria has emerged as an inspiring beacon of resilience and determination.
A graduate of North West University in Visual Arts Communications (2024), her story reflects her unwavering commitment to informing the public, breaking barriers, and rising above adversity.
Sateria’s working career began in 2023 when she led the educational initiative B'630 Education and Discipline Improvement New Dawn Park Primary, aimed at empowering young minds.
However, it was her passion for storytelling and communication that solidified her place in the media world. Her appointment this week was the achievement of a long-aspired dream of becoming a producer and presenter at RSG/SABC.
Reflecting on her journey, Sateria says, "I’ve faced many storms in my life, from financial struggles to the heartbreak of losing my father, Benjamin Dumzela. But through it all, I refused to let go of my dreams. Every obstacle was a lesson, every setback a stepping stone."
The challenges she faced were not just personal but extended to her professional pursuits.
In 2024, while covering a story on illegal mining activities, Jade faced a harrowing experience that tested her courage.
"I was almost kidnapped by Zama-Zamas while working on an investigative piece. That moment was terrifying, but it reminded me why I do what I do. The truth matters, and I’ll always fight to share it with the world," she says.
Her determination to rise above negativity and tragedy has not only shaped her career but has also inspired many.
Beyond her role as a journalist, she is a talented actress and dramatic producer, showcasing her versatility and creative depth.
She has eight years’ experience in drama and stage production. She served on the management panel of NWU Arts (DIVACO) and last year staged two productions for them.
"For years, I’ve been told my dreams were too big or unattainable. But I’ve learned that persistence and belief in yourself are the keys to breaking barriers. If I can inspire just one person to never give up, then I’ve done my job,” says Sateria.
From small beginnings in George to the studios of the SABC, Sateria’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and faith. She stands as a shining example that no matter how dark the night, the dawn of success always awaits those who dare to keep going.
As she takes on her new role, she does so with the confidence of a woman who has conquered her challenges and the humility of someone who knows the value of hard work.
Sateria says she is undergoing voice training, but then Georgians can look out for her voice on RSG.
