GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (ODIN) is facing a crisis that threatens the lives of the rescue dogs in its care.
While ODIN itself is not shutting down, the kennels it rents in George are set to be demolished due to zoning issues they weren't initially aware of.
If alternative arrangements are not found, the dogs currently housed there face euthanasia.
Despite an aggressive search for a new location, ODIN has not yet secured suitable premises. While there is hope on the horizon, it will take at least two months before a permanent solution can be implemented. Unfortunately, time is running out for the dogs, and immediate foster care is desperately needed.
Call for help
ODIN is urgently seeking temporary accommodation for its adult rescue dogs. The organisation will provide food and cover veterinary bills for foster homes willing to take in the animals until a new facility is ready.
“We understand the legal aspect, but now we must face the heartbreaking reality that without immediate foster placements, these dogs will not survive,” said ODIN's Colleen Smith.
“We are appealing to kennels, private homes, and animal lovers - anyone who can provide a temporary haven for these innocent animals.”
The organisation remains committed to its outreach programmes and will not consider sending its rescues to kill shelters. ODIN’s supporters have worked tirelessly to save these animals, and now the community’s help is needed once more to ensure their survival.
How you can help
If you can foster a dog, even temporarily, please contact Erika at 064 681 0501 or ODIN at 072 084 1374 as soon as possible. Every offer of assistance can make the difference between life and death for these animals.
