GEORGE NEWS - You can help to fight the war against animal cruelty, neglect, starvation, disease and over-breeding by helping the Steri Squad at their next Spay-a-thon.
Together with the Garden Route SPCA and the PDSA, the Steri Squad will be sterilising dogs and cats in the Conville and Rosemoor area between Monday 21 October and Thursday 24 October.
This joint initiative aims to do a number of proactive sterilisation campaigns in various areas with different organisations. Next week's spay-a-thon will be in aid of Cat Garden Route and York High Animal Club.
Steri Squad was founded by two local animal fanatics, Laurell Pelser and Herita MacDonald.
"Any support is needed and appreciated," says Pelser. "We started Steri Squad which aims to bring different rescue organisations together for the sole purpose of sterilising. This one is in conjunction with the hard-working York High Animal Club and will focus on animals in the Conville and Rosemore areas," she said.
Sterilisation, vaccination and deworming of one dog will cost R450 per dog. Anyone who is willing to make any donation towards this is asked to contact Pelser on 082 693 5609.
Any donations or assistance are welcome.
Many animals were helped during the previous spay-a-thon earlier this year.
