GEORGE NEWS - Residents who are concerned about security and who would like to contribute to a safer George are invited to a Safety and Security Expo on Thursday 3 October at the George Civic Centre.
The event is an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to engage in safety and security within the George municipal area.
George Mayor Jackie von Brandis is the host for the event that will feature speakers addressing safety concerns and an expo where attendees can interact with stakeholders at their respective booths.
There will also be opportunity for neighbourhood watches to register with the Western Cape Government’s Department of Policing Oversight and Community Safety.
Von Brandis invited all interested residents to become involved. "Crime remains a pressing challenge for South Africans, including residents of George. This event encourages our community to unite and play an active role in securing our neighbourhoods.
"With this event, we are creating a platform for safety and security to take centre stage and receive the necessary attention it deserves."
Residents interested in interacting with stakeholders and establishing or (re-)registering neighbourhood watches are encouraged to attend the event.
It is being presented by George Municipality in collaboration with the Western Cape Provincial Government and Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM).
