GEORGE NEWS - George Child and Family Welfare has been selected as the beneficiary for the Algoa FM Charity Golf Day, to be hosted at the George Golf Club on Thursday, 13 August.
The funds raised will go towards the purchase of equipment such as a projector and screen, as well as a whiteboard, branding, and educational toys.
“The funds will be used to strengthen and sustain our holistic child protection and family support services, ensuring that vulnerable children and families continue to receive safe, consistent, and quality care,” says Sue du Toit, director of George Child and Family Welfare.
Services provided by the 100-year-old charity include crisis intervention, with immediate response and support to children as well as families in urgent need of assistance
“We provide a range of social services focused on protecting and supporting children and strengthening families in the George area.
“Our work is community-based and aimed at prevention, care, and development, with the goal being to keep children safe while strengthening families so children can grow up in stable, supportive environments,” du Toit adds.
“Algoa FM calls on all golfers and businesses in the Garden Route to support this hard-working charity which has been supporting children and families for 100 years in September,” says Alfie Jay, managing director of Algoa FM.
“Let’s give them a birthday party to remember,” he adds.
The 2026 theme for the fun Algoa FM Charity Golf Days is “the ‘80’s” to mark the station’s 40th year of broadcasting.
