GEORGE NEWS - Each year, body stress release (BSR) practitioners await their annual conference with much excitement and anticipation. This year was no exception.
The 32nd body stress release conference was held in the George Arts Theatre for the second year running.
The conference enables practitioners from across the globe to gather for the weekend, to have fun and draw inspiration from each other and the presenters.
The main speaker, Eloise Nair, mesmerised delegates with her intuitive and profoundly positive message, 'Game changers'. Johan van Wyk, a spinal surgery expert based in George, provided valuable insight into current spinal surgical procedures which included practical information relating to the products used in these surgeries such as nuts, bolts, plates and cages.
Suré Tredoux presented on the various outreach projects throughout Africa. Jeanette Gibbs, a practitioner based in Wilderness, presented on 'BSR and cerebral palsy' and Kathy Heapy, a practitioner from Midrand, presented on how to sustain and grow a BSR practice.
The BSR lecturers also provided a platform for delegates to pose questions regarding their challenging client cases.

The theme of this year's conference was 'Reaching out'. This not only reflected practitioners reaching out to one another and their clients, but also the outreach projects in Zambia, Umtata and local areas that were a significant turning point during the past year.
BSR practitioners volunteered their time and expertise to differently abled children who would normally not have access to complementary modalities such as BSR.
Body stress release as a technique was founded 39 years ago by Gail and Ewald Meggersee, originally from Cape Town. Success followed and the couple were soon approached to train others in the technique.
This is done at two academies, one in Rondevlei, Wilderness, and another in Dorset, UK.
The conference ended with a heartfelt tribute to Gail Meggersee and staff of George Arts Theatre. Bubbles and snacks followed, which was a fitting close to an inspiring conference.
