Following an anonymous call to the Garden Route SPCA, Senior Inspector Salomè Botha together with Inspector Pypers travelled to a property in Blanco to rescue a pitbull on Tuesday 20 August. The distressed pitbull was found in a broken crate shoved in between two buildings that served as his shelter.
According to the complainant, the badly injured dog had been involved in a dogfight the previous week. "The dog had several injuries and marks on him," explained Botha who added that the accused had claimed that a friend of his had taken the dog to a fight while he slept.
"The version is quite different from the anonymous caller's," concluded Botha. From the dog's injuries it was ascertained that the dog must have been involved in dogfighting.
The injured dog was confiscated and a case of animal cruelty has been opened.

This depressed and injured dog was rescued from a Blanco residence after allegedly being involved in an organised dog fight.
