GEORGE NEWS - From 10 to 16 October, Eden Lions Club, George Lions Club and Rotary Club of George South Africa, ran a joint project that provided meals and helped in a beach clean-up.
Called "Celebrate Community", the project addressed the health and wellness of the community, among other things.
Project convener Tillie Nel said together, people make a difference.
Last Tuesday, 186 stew mixes were packed in 45 minutes at the Garden Route Pantry, paving the way to feed a total of 1 116 people. Over Tuesday and Wednesday, 346 packs of soya stew were mixed, amounting to 2 076 meals.
Nel thanked the Garden Route Food Pantry for supplying the stock. The project also included a beach clean-up on Saturday 16 October at Wilderness.
At least 30 people were involved in the project. Nel said they plan to have it again next year.
