GEORGE NEWS - 'The shambles of George' is the topic of a talk by Mel Walton, a resident of Herold's Bay, on Friday 18 October at Emmaüs.
The talk is hosted by the U3A.
While researching her family's history, Walton realised that her family have lived in the shade of the Outeniqua Mountain for the past 170 years and this has inspired her to do some research on the early days in George.
She has promised to share a "secret document" written by the then town keeper who presided over the town from 1917 to 1927.
Walton is an art teacher and writer and has written several short stories along with her memoirs, Find me in the garden, which is available in the George Library.
She is one of the guardians of the historic chapel in Herold's Bay.
All interested are welcome to join the U3A for the talk. Tea is at 10:00 and the talk starts at 10:30.
Mel Walton is the guest speaker at the U3A meeting on Friday 18 October.
