GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route SPCA (GRSPA) once again came to the rescue when a pit bull terrier puppy was stolen from a house in New Dawn Park in Pacaltsdorp a little more than a week ago.
The puppy, Blakey, was stolen from inside its owner's house while they were sleeping.
"The pup was a most valued part of her life and she was completely distraught when she contacted us. We know the fate that awaits these puppies if they end up in the wrong hands," said GRSPCA senior inspector Salomé Bruyns.
The owners realised that their precious four-legged family member had been stolen through the bathroom window.
"We are forever grateful to the SPCA. Our hearts were shattered and all of us were in tears. We really appreciate everyone's help. Every post and every call that was made," said the pup's owner, Andeline Crowley.
Upon receiving the call on Monday 20 June, Bruyns and co-inspector Gerda Groenewald immediately jumped into action, searching high and low for the puppy.
After many leads from the community and a serious search expedition, they found the dog at a house in Parkdene.
The man who had the puppy in his possession however, claimed that the dog was sold to him and that he was unaware that it was a stolen dog.
"We had a long educational chat with the gentleman and he handed the dog over to us. The poor pup seemed a bit rattled after the whole ordeal, but was happy to be home with his loving family," said Bruyns.
An ecstatic family reunion. Blakey in the arms of Keenan Crowly with Keenan's mother Andeline sharing the moment.
