Update Video
GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - Protestors have departed from the civil engineering building in York Street after handing over their first memorandum to acting municipal manager, Walter Hendricks and public transport oversight official, Lee-Anne Meiring.
Protestors were quite upset that George mayor, Melvin Naik, was not personally available to accept the memorandum.
They will now be making their way back down York Street, into Nelson Mandela Boulevard where they will hand over another memorandum at the department of labour.
The marchers are taking part in the national trade union strike. The national strike is over the proposed national minimum wage of R20 per hour, amendments to labour laws as well as economic challenges facing workers and the poor.
