GEORGE NEWS - The recent birthday celebration of his one-year-old puppy Nugget was a very special one indeed for Gerhard Viljoen. After her mysterious disappearance earlier this year, being able to hug her and offer her a piece of cake was pure happiness. Viljoen is relieved that his little 'terrorist' is safely back at her peaceful Denver Park home.
In June, his frantic search for his missing cross-breed puppy (the mother is a Jack Russel) led to him placing a half page advertisement in the George Herald asking for information about her whereabouts.
Her puzzling disappearance ended well when she was returned by an official who recognised the scared and bewildered little dog from the George Herald photo.
She had been found in the bushes bordering Ebb and Flow on the afternoon of 16 June, the day she went missing. A joyful Viljoen placed an advert to thank the public of George for her return.
Gerhard, who is clearly besotted with his little dog, speculates that she had been stolen. If Nugget were a child, she would have to be on Ritalin, he says.
"She cannot sit still and cannot concentrate on a single task or game." She was soon back on form and as playful as always.
