Update
GEORGE NEWS - Executive Mayor of George, Ald Leon van Wyk and Acting Municipal Manager, Dr Michele Gratz, met some of the Epwp (Expanded Public Works Programme) workers today, 24 March 2021 after they have started as part of a new Ward Based cleaning project initiated by the Community Services Directorate of George Municipality and the Garden Route District Municipality.
Mayor Van Wyk said he considers this a happy day as the first phase of the project started.
The teams started with the main roads in town and the project will be rolled out to the rest of the neighbourhoods over the coming weeks, he said.
Van Wyk said he is glad that the Municipality can get George clean again and of course creating jobs in the process is wonderful.
