GEORGE NEWS - Life Community Services recently held a breakfast at Shofar Church to thank the many role players and sponsors who make it possible for the organisation to keep going.
CEO Maryna de Vries extended a heartfelt thank you for all who contribute to the organisation in some way.
She said that they need to be self-sustaining and therefore are always trying creative ways in which to raise funds, such as selling a special coffee blend and a recipe book. The Isipho project is also selling hand-made articles and Christmas gifts.
They have now also moved into providing corporate gifts.
Life's primary school, Life Christian Academy, needs to add two new classrooms for the introduction of Grade 7 next year. They started with only Grade 1 a few years back and added one grade per year since. "We are excited as from next year we will be a full primary school."
Their dream is to build a proper brick and mortar school building, but until the funds are available, they will keep on adding temporary classrooms.
De Vries asked for support in providing Christmas gifts and/or Christmas parties for the children at the end of the year. "We need to have every child sponsored. Two organisations have already said they will hold a party for 100 and 170 children respectively."
Anyone who can assist Life through volunteering or contributions, may contact the office on 044 873 6601 or visit their offices at 122 Cradock Street.
