The moment they spotted him walking towards the airport mother and daughter erupted and the screams could be heard all around. Hennie and Martha stood sobbing, knowing that their only child was finally home.
Although Daniel looked exhausted the love and joy in his eyes were unmistakable as he looked from one member of his family to the next. When asked if he had luggage coming through he laughingly said: "No, this is all I have, I wasn't going to be away for long."
After a brief press conference in which Daniël expressed his relief at being safely home, and saying that his strong belief in God helped him get through the dark days, he and his family headed back to the arrival hall where family and friends were waiting.
The moment the Janse van Rensburg family joined them the group formed a circle, bowed their heads and offered their thanks to God for Daniël's safe return.
Daniël and his family left the airport heading home for a well-deserved rest.
