GEORGE NEWSFLASH AND VIDEO - Patrick Kgaphola, manager of the Phelophepa Health Train currently at the George Railway Station, is very happy with the turnout of clients for the services offered by the mobile unit.
From early Monday morning clients have been waiting in long ques to access the medical services offered by the mobile clinic.
The train leaves George on Friday afternoon after the last patient has been attended to.
About the train
The Transnet-Phelophepa Healthcare Train has reached millions of people in South Africa since its roll-out in 1994. The healthcare services provided from the train are either free of charge or offered at an exceptionally low cost to communities in rural areas.
The services include a health clinic, dental clinic, eye clinic, psychology clinic and cancer screening.
The trains travel for 35 to 36 weeks each year, visiting various communities in rural areas each week.
