GEORGE NEWS - The George Male Choir has been invited to join in the Heritage Day celebrations at the George Museum and will be giving a concert in the museum at 18:00 on Friday 22 September.
The choir, which was founded in 1982, is continuing to grow both in numbers and stature.
They will perform a wide repertoire of songs that will include traditional songs with the emphasis on local and Africa music, some ever-popular male choir songs and a new and exciting venture into performing songs from various musicals, including Andrew Lloyd Webber songs and Les Misérables.
The talented Glenwood House Marimba Band has agreed to join the choir, ensuring that this celebration of Heritage Day is not to be missed.
Choir leader Chrisna du Preez says music is part of human experiences and has been used to stir up our feelings and to raise us into action.
"This is a part of South Africa's heritage and a reminder of our past. Together with the right to our identity, it should be something we cherish. Heritage is the language we speak, the displays in the museums, the art and dance and above all the songs and music we listen to and sing. We invite the public to come and share this event with us in remembrance of our heritage."
Entrance is free, but donations are welcome.
