GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The search for the missing boy (16) from Thembalethu, who got into trouble in the sea at Wilderness Beach earlier today, has been put on hold due to rough sea conditions and bad light.
The exact details surrounding the incident are still unclear, but it is believed that the boy was spending the day on the beach with family and friends when the incident occurred.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Lt Col Malcolm Pojie, the search commenced shortly after the boy got into trouble in the water and disappeared.
When George Herald returned to the scene later this afternoon, Sunday 27 November, the NSRI and paramedics from Metro Ambulance Services were busy attending to another person who also got into trouble in the water on the same beach.
At this stage details about the incident could not be confirmed, but with George Herald’s arrival on the scene the person was receiving medical attention after which he was airlifted by AMS and transported to hospital.

Drowning in Glentana
Meanwhile a 36-year-old woman from Mossel Bay drowned at Glentana Beach this afternoon.
According to George Herald’s sister publication, Mossel Bay Advertiser, emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 14:15.
The woman was swimming when she got into trouble. After about 40 minutes of trying to resuscitate the her, she was unfortunately declared dead on the scene.
