Founded by a board of directors in 2008 and based in Pacaltsdorp with a branch in Uniondale, the organisation's services include an after-school care programme at Newdawn Primary School, hip-hop dance training and holiday programmes.
The Youth of Excellence Awards competition is one of their new and exciting projects planned for the next year.
Other projects include a half marathon and fun run, a "My Father, My hero" essay competition, and a Battle of the Crews Hip-hop dance-off.
The Youth of Excellence Awards Ceremony will take place on 21 November at the Protea King George Hotel where the winner will be announced.
The competition focuses on youth (stipulating an age range from 16-35 years), making a difference through the development of children, youth and adults in the areas of education, social development, arts and crafts, health and science, and sport, by initiating community development projects and programmes on a voluntary basis. Youth who are remunerated for their efforts will not be considered.
The panel of judges will include representatives from the Department of Education, Eden District Municipality, Department of Social Development, Eden Lions Club, EDENfm, and arts teachers and sport coaches from local high schools. They will be responsible for the selection of finalists and the overall winner. Nomination forms will be available from June 2012 at the following registration points:
