Update
GEORGE NEWS - Shortly before the start of the 2023 Christmas holidays, a head-on collision near the turn-off to Timberlake Village on the N2 claimed the lives of three elderly women from Sedgefield.
The collision happened at about 13:45 on 19 November on the N2 between Kleinkrantz and Sedgefield.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, the deceased, Helen Spengler (76), Jean Meville (77) and Emily Bothma (80), were travelling in a Ford Eco Sport, on their way from Sedgefield to visit Timberlake Village when they collided head-on with a Mercedes Benz A-Class coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the Mercedes and another passenger in the Ford sustained severe injuries and were transported to hospital by ER24 and Frontier Medix in a critical condition. At the time of going to print their condition could not be confirmed.

Two of the women in the Ford were declared dead on the scene, while the other succumbed to her injuries later that night in hospital.
George Police opened a culpable homicide docket following the accident.
The cause of the accident is yet to be established.
