GEORGE NEWS - The Pacaltsdorp Police have launched their first joint sector forum, marking a new phase in strengthening co-operation between them and the community.
The initial steering committee was formed on 2 November, followed by the election of the sector forum management committee during a second meeting last weekend, Sunday 16 November.
The initiative aims to decentralise policing across Pacaltsdorp's three sectors by building structured partnerships that support - rather than duplicate - the work of the CPFs and local neighbourhood watches.
Sector commanders will collaborate with forum volunteers to address key safety concerns, including crime prevention, gender-based violence, youth-related issues, social challenges and the Safer Schools programme.
Newly elected chairperson Angelique Vezasie called on residents and organisations to participate actively in awareness campaigns, reporting structures and early-warning efforts.
"Safer schools are the foundation of safer communities, and we must intensify our efforts to prevent crime, support victims and promote a culture of respect and accountability," she said. "Our vision is a crime-free community in which every resident can live, work and play safely and be treated with dignity."
Sector Commander Warrant Officer Clifton Jantjies said he is optimistic about the collaboration, describing the forum as a practical tool for crime deterrence within the sector policing model.
Sergeant Sergio Bowers added that strong community partnerships are especially vital as the festive season approaches and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence Campaign begins.
