The Chamber welcomed five new members and they were given the opportunity to introduce their companies to all those present.
Apostolellis said Golden Harvest came into being in May 1981 in Hibernia Street in George.
In the mid 80s the company outgrew its facilities and new premises was built in the industrial area, allowing them the opportunity to develop the branch in the CBD into a retail store.
As a result Golden Harvest is locally seen as a fresh produce retailer, whereas the company is primarily a fresh produce wholesaler, trader and import/exporter.
They have facilities in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town (where the bulk of its export business takes place), whereas George is still the head-office of the company.
Through its various branches the company supplies fresh produce to the majority of the retail chains, fresh produce wholesalers and retailers and to a smaller extent restaurants and hotels.
