ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Wynberg Boys High School is undertaking a Garden Route Music Tour, starting later this week.
Some 72 of the school’s talented musicians will perform twice in George on Sunday 29 June, before moving on to perform in Hartenbos, Knysna and Oudtshoorn.
The events on the 29th take place at the historic St Mark’s Cathedral during the 09:00 Eucharist service with the concert band, vocal ensemble and pipe band accompanying the congregational singing.
After the service, the stirring sound of the pipe band will continue outdoors in the cathedral’s garden. Everyone is welcome to attend the service to enjoy the music and voices of the touring group, accompanied by Richard Haigh on the organ.
Later that day, at 15:00, music lovers are invited to the Dutch Reformed Mother Church in Courtenay Street for a concert featuring the school’s concert band, jazz band, pipe band and vocal ensemble, accompanied by organist Damian Philander, in a dynamic programme spanning various genres.
This promises to be a showcase of youthful talent and musical discipline, cultivated through months of dedicated preparation.
From the rhythmic flair of the jazz band to the haunting harmonies of the pipes and voices, this concert is not to be missed.
While entry is free, a retiring collection will be taken after the concert, with proceeds supporting the ongoing development of the school’s distinguished music programme.
The Wynberg Boys High School’s Garden Route Music Tour not only provides a platform for young musicians to share their artistry with wider communities, but also strengthens the cultural fabric of every town they visit, and George is set to experience the powerful fusion of youthful passion and musical excellence on 29 June.
