Ms Buyiswa Matiwani’s female choir from the Southern Cape kept the region’s flag flying high when they took first place in their division.
Talented Southern Cape singer, Xolani Mala, was awarded second place in the Male solo baritone division, just being edged out by the entrant from Drakenstein. Xolani’s conductor is Ms Gloria Morgan, who also worked with the Southern Cape’s male choir, who ended third overall. Voorberg and Pollsmoor prisons took first and second place respectively in the male choir division. In the other categories, Goodwood management area took first place in the Tenors solo section and Pollsmoor prison’s female soprano won her division.
The winners from this regional competition travel to Durban in 2012 for the National finals.
