"Few people entertain the fact that Knysna is home to the oldest microbrewery in South Africa. A festival celebrating craft beer is fitting for the area and speaks to our Slow Food Route principles," explained Knysna Tourism CEO Greg Vogt.
The beerfest starts at 18:00 on 25 October. Visitors will be able to enjoy local craft beer, German food and wine tastings while listening to live music. They will also be able to buy souvenir beer glasses, German party hats, T-shirts, beer and wine. The day's entertainment will draw to a close at midnight.
The beerfest organisers have ensured that Sunday is packed with family fun from 11:00-16:00.
Jacky Weaver, Masithandane programme manager, says all the proceeds of the beerfest will go towards the building of a much needed new children's education centre.
Tickets for Saturday's Beerfest Party Time cost R150 per adult and include a meal, pri-zes, entertainment and tastings. The Sunday ticket is R20 per adult while children pay R10 to enjoy the foam party, Dog Agility Show and fancy dress competition.
Tickets are available from Die Windpomp Diner (Scarab Village), Masithandane and Sedgefield Information (Tourism) Office.
