GEORGE NEWS - The Dlomo twins, Sithonga and Msimbithi, of Ministry International and Buddies for Life, warmed the hearts of families in Thembalethu on Friday 19 December when they hosted a charity and Christmas celebration for Fundani Nonke Preschool.
The event was well attended by parents, community members and representatives of Buddies for Life, who joined in celebrating the season of giving with the preschool children.
Speaking at the event, Sithonga said the preschool has been offering free early childhood education and daily meals to disadvantaged families since 2023. He highlighted the challenges many parents face, including financial hardship, food insecurity and limited access to educational support.
“Our vision is to ensure that every child builds a strong foundation for a brighter future,” he said.
Dlomo explained that the preschool provides instruction in isiXhosa, English and Afrikaans, making education more accessible to children from diverse backgrounds. The initiative aims to empower underprivileged children to grow and live better lives.
The crèche is supported by the University of God (UK), Prophet Racine, Izak Malan, Pieter Dreyer van Zyl, Emarie Malan and the Life for Jesus ministry.
Representing Buddies For Life, Pieter Dreyer van Zyl said the organisation is committed to blessing children and families in Thembalethu. “Every child deserves to feel loved, valued and seen. We believe that it's more rewarding to give than to receive."
Van Zyl emphasised that the initiative reflects their way of life and their investment in the future of the community’s children. He thanked donors and partners whose generosity helps to provide practical care for the children.
The celebration formed part of their ongoing community development efforts aimed at uplifting vulnerable families during the festive season and beyond.
