SWIMMING NEWS - Luard Elstadt (15) of Fish Eagle Aquatics in George had his first international gala experience recently when he competed in the annual Seminole Sunrise Long Course swimming meeting, which was held at the North Shore Pool in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Thirty-five clubs from Florida's Western Conference region competed in the event which was held over three days.
Competing in the 15-year age group at the event, Luard came first in the 50m breaststroke, second in the 50m backstroke and third in the 50m fly events.
He was also invited for a training session in an endless pool while visiting Foothills Swim Club in Denver, Colorado. In an endless pool, coaches and swimmers can observe every stroke and movement in the pool with the help of several cameras and a TV monitor.
Target training in an endless pool improves the impact and effectiveness of swimming drills as coaches can observe a swimmer's every movement, enabling them to immediately correct problematic movements and techniques.
