GEORGE NEWS - This year's annual Zeal2000 run is done and dusted.
The fundraiser, organised by the Zeal Men's Movement, took place on Saturday 12 February, and instead of completing the planned collective 2 000km, runners and walkers who participated from across the world, completed a whopping 2 273,35km from sunrise to sunset.
Zeal is a non-profit Christian movement founded in 2018 by a group of local men with the goal of reaching out to men and boys in Blanco.
The concept behind the fundraiser is to raise money in aid of the Zeal Men's Movement Touch Rugby League they have created to enrich the lives of the players.
"Our annual fundraiser aims to create more awareness about our touch rugby league for boys and men, as well as raising money to continue with the work they do with these boys and men," said one of the organisers and a member of the movement, Christiaan Blignaut.
"We really want to invest in, and enrich their lives to give them a better future. Any donations are welcome throughout the year. We are overwhelmed by the amount of support we got. Both from runners and people willing to donate to our cause."
