GEORGE NEWS - The excitement was palpable at Hoërskool Outeniqua on Thursday afternoon, 6 August, as the school’s A and B rugby teams departed for Bloemfontein after some sponsors stepped in to ensure the annual Grey College tour could go ahead.
As previously reported by George Herald, the school announced on Thursday 23 July that the tour had been cancelled due to financial challenges caused by sharply increased transport costs.
Later the same day, however, the school confirmed that some sponsors had come forward, allowing the tour to proceed as planned.
Parents, family, friends and supporters gathered to bid farewell to the players as a bus filled with enthusiastic Kwaggas left George for Bloemfontein, where the teams will take on Grey College on Saturday 8 August.
