GEORGE HORSE RIDING NEWS - George Riding Club (GRC) hosted the Western Cape Eventing Championships on the weekend of 27 August, drawing over 140 horses and riders, with their families from across the Western Cape, Gqeberha, East London and Gauteng.
As in previous years, compliments, messages and congratulations flooded the GRC's Facebook page. After a spectacular three-day event consisting of dressage, cross country and show jumping, GRC said that the championships were a success.
"Many battles regarding the weather were thrown at the competitors, but nothing stopped them to perform excellently and professionally," said Jake Crowther, chairperson of the GRC executive committee.
Crowther said this was the third eventing show held at GRC since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He proudly pointed out that the club is celebrating 53 years on its grounds. "This club would not have been a success without its members, volunteers, riders, marshals, medics, vets and grooms. They are the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mould the present into a future of which we can all be proud."
Preparation for such an event can take anything from six weeks to two months. It depends on many factors, with the sponsors playing a vital role.

"Also, any show held at GRC cannot go ahead without the municipality's approval and assistance. We thank them, as well as every single person that volunteers their time for this lovely sport," said Crowther.
