GEORGE NEWS - Local bodybuilder Shaun Butler added another trophy to his 2022 collection when he took the laurels in the disability division at the South African Physical Culture Association (PCA) Championships in Durbanville on Saturday 10 September.
"It is a huge honour. Under the federation there is absolutely so much opportunity for growth," said an excited Butler.
His perseverance since his motorcycle accident in 2014 is paying off. This is his second win after he started competing for the first time this year.
He has also entered the IBFF All Africa Cup that takes place in Pretoria on 24 September.
Butler had been hesitant to participate competitively in bodybuilding, but thanks to the encouragement of his brother Dylon, a competitive bodybuilder, he took the plunge this year.
He has been competing in adaptive CrossFit competitions for the last two years and is a wheelchair athlete who serves on the organising committee of the annual Outeniqua Chair Challenge (OCC).
