GEORGE NEWS - George police have registered a murder docket for further investigation following the death of a 22-year-old man in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 27 September.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, preliminary information indicates that the deceased was involved in an altercation with a group of men in Courtenay Street at about 02:25.
The man was assaulted during the altercation and sustained a stab wound to the chest.
He was transported to hospital, where he was later declared dead by medical personnel.
Pojie did not provide further details about the possible motive for the attack or what may have sparked the altercation. This forms part of the ongoing police investigation.
“Members who attended the scene arrested five men for riotous behaviour. They are being questioned in connection with the murder,” said Pojie.
The investigation continues.
