NETBALL NEWS - A Grade 11 learner at Jonga High School, Samuelinah Ndizana, made history when she became the first player from a school in Thembalethu to take part in the Regional Schools Netball games.
On top of that, she became the first Thembalethu learner to obtain provincial colours.
With the Netball World Cup to be hosted in Cape Town soon, the sport has seen some extra impetus in the past months, and Ndizana dreamed of making the most of it.
Despite having only a few years on the netball court, the 18-year-old secured her regional colours after her excellent work in the Regional Schools Netball tryouts recently held in Beaufort West.
The talented player was selected by the Regional selectors to represent the Eden Region in Cape Town on 19 and 20 May. Her journey started on 18 April at Outeniqua High School where she was selected for the George Netball Schools team.
On Saturday 6 May she went to Beaufort West to participate in the Regional Netball Schools trials, where she was selected for the Eden Region Netball Schools u.18 team.
The talented player told George Herald that she was taught from a very young age that if you believe you can make it, if you set your mind on something, then you should stick to it. She put in a lot of hard work and it has paid off.
"Where there's a will, there's always a way," said Ndizana, who is excited at the prospect of her future in sport.
