GEORGE NEWS - More than 400 athletes of all ages from 28 countries competed in the fourth UIPM Laser-Run World Championships in Dublin, Ireland, on the sports grounds of the historic Trinity College.
There were categories for all ages from U.11 to Masters 60+.
Laser-Run has been held in over 100 cities around the world this year and the general exposure, not just for Laser-Run but the sport of Modern Pentathlon, is huge.
Great Britain topped the overall standings with 20 medals in the individual races, including eight gold. France and Hungary each won six titles while Egypt and South Africa won four gold medals each. South Africa also won two silver medals and one bronze medal.
Ulene Visser represented Team RSA as team manager, Zanelle Vorster and Marno Theunissen were selected by the athletes as team captains and Johan Windt was selected as the technical official of the SA team. All four athletes are from Eden MPA.
Just before the closing of the World Championships, Eden MPA's disabled Kerri O'Loughlin had the privilege to participate in her own race.

Ulene Visser Master 40+ (silver), Johan Windt Master 60+ (bronze), Neytwin Laminie Junior Men (6th), Marno Theunissen Junior Men (8th), Zanelle Vorster Junior Women (8th), Stef Schoeman u.15 (13th) and Ewald Schoeman u.13 (25th).
Team and mixed relay results:
