The Englishman is one of Europe captain Darren Clarke's three wildcard picks.
Westwood will be competing in his 10th Ryder Cup while Danny Willett, Chris Wood, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Andy Sullivan, Matt Fitzpatrick and Thomas Pieters will be playing in their first.
"I think they can take it," Westwood said of the atmosphere in the USA.
"There's a lot of experience there. I look at a lot of the players' characters and I think they can take a fight and a bit of stick.
Sullivan, 30, who is ranked 42 in the world, also believes the rookies will be able to deal with the atmosphere.
"I think it's going to be an atmosphere where we can get the best out of ourselves," he told BBC Radio 5 live. "A lot of the guys like to show their emotions, me being one of them. When you hole a long putt and give it a fist pump, it's all part of it and I quite like that.
"I've been talking to Clarkey [Darren Clarke], Lee Westwood and even Rory [McIlroy] and they've all said that you're going to be nervous on the first tee and it's going to be hostile but you just go out there and play golf.
"We are professional golfers and if we can't go out there and handle ourselves in the hostile conditions, we shouldn't be playing."
