GEORGE NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers on Sunday bade farewell to long-serving player, Hanno Kotze, who will retire from cricket at the end of the month.
The 29-year-old Kotze made his first-class debut for South Western Districts on 5 December 2013 as a 19-year-old against Griqualand West.
He will exchange the life of a professional cricket player for the corporate world from 1 March.
In total he played 49 first-class matches (2 142 runs), 59 List A matches (1 441 runs) and 28 T20 matches (662 runs).
During his first-class career he also spent two seasons at Boland and during that time he represented the Cape Cobras.
"Hanno arrived at SWD as an 18-year-old student at Nelson Mandela University in George and as a teenager, played himself into the SWD team," said SWD Cricket CEO, Albertus Kennedy.
"He was a loyal and popular player, who earned respect both on and off the field, with a reputation of being devastating with the bat in the white-ball format. We wish him all the best with his future endeavours."
