According to Auto Express, the planned Tucson, and unlike the South African exclusive 'Sport' variant, will form part of the Korean automaker's N performance sub-brand currently consisting out of the i30 N and Veloster N, and likely come powered by the same 202 kW 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
"The Tucson is under development, and other models will come after that," Hyundai Global Head of Sales, Byung Kwon Rhim, told the publication at the launch of the new Santa Fe last week.
Likely to feature a series of N specific upgrades over the regular model, the Tucson N is only expected to become available in 2019, possibly joining the recently spied i30 N Fastback as the fourth N model.
