Although still heavily disguised, the latest images confirms those from two months ago in showing the prototype with GT86 / 86 styled projector type LED units, and all LED tail lamps inspired by those of the last Supra, the A80 that ended production in 2002.
Technical details are still unknown, though speculation is that the Supra, co-developed with the BMW Z4, will have a turbocharged V6 engine and a manual gearbox contraire to previous reports, with a output "north of 294 kW. A four-wheel drive hybrid model with tech derived from the TS030 raced in the World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 hours will reportedly also be available.
Styling is said to come from the FT-1 concept shown in Detroit three years ago, while the interior will incorporate switchgear from the BMW parts-bin. In the meantime, a report from the United Kingdom has claimed that the Supra will be sold under the Gazoo Racing banner instead of Toyota, with a weight of between 1 200 kg and 1 500 kg.
"The Supra will be by Gazoo. The new car has to appeal to the existing owners first. The old cars had a straight-six engine, twin-turbochargers and rear-wheel drive; the new car has to have the same philosophy," Gazoo Racing Head, Shigeki Tomoyama, told Auto Express.
Production is reportedly set to commence next year with sales from 2019.
