According to Autocar India, the six-seat Ertiga, which debuted in regular seven-seat form in November, will come with a more premium interior, captain’s chairs in the second row and third-row bench seating as it targets models such as the segment leading Toyota Innova Crysta, Honda BR-V and the recently launched Mahindra Marazzo.
While the standard engine of choice will be the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol also used in the Ciaz and Jimny, the publication reports that the six-seat Ertiga could debut Suzuki’s new in-house developed 1.5-litre turbodiesel in place of the current, long-serving 1.3 Multijet sourced from Fiat.
No further details have yet been divulged as to when the six-seat Ertiga will debut. Similarly, Suzuki Auto South Africa is yet to announce a local launch date and spec for the standard model, but chances are that buyers will again be limited to the petrol motor connected to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox, and in a single trim level compared to the four offered in India.
