In a statement, the Department said that while the Bent Crude Oil went up from $78.89 a barrel to $81.03 during the period under review, the Rand appreciated against the US Dollar leading to a lower basic fuel price contribution.
Despite this though, the addition of the so-called Slate Levy of just over 21 cents has led to a continuing increase in the price of diesel, which is set to rise by between 47 and 50 cents per litre, while illuminating paraffin, not affected by the aforementioned levy, will go up by 28 cents per litre.
At the opening of markets on Tuesday (November sixth), the national currency was trading at R14.18 to the greenback with a barrel of Brent Crude at $72.69.
