According Mustang online forum, Mustang6G, the current 3.7-litre Cyclone mill, which can trace its roots back to 2007 when a smaller 3.5 first appeared in the US-market Lincoln MKZ, no longer conforms to body type codes accepted by dealer's computer system, meaning it will most likely be dropped for the 2018 model year.
In addition, automatic models will drop the ageing six-speeder for the new ten-speed that recently premiered in the F150, while the previous Shelby GT350 exclusive MagnaRide dampers will become available on the 2.3 EcoBoost and V8-engine GT.
Expect the updated Mustang to debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit early next year with sales starting soon after.
