Commenting on unaudited data released by the Central Energy Fund on Monday (15 January), the Automobile Association (AA) said the stability of the Rand against the US Dollar could result in a price cut of 41 cents a litre for petrol, 23 cents for diesel and 26 cents for illuminating paraffin come February seventh.
"The international prices of petrol and diesel were also stable over the same period, although there was a slight climb in both in the second week of January. Continued stability in fuel prices for 2018 will largely depend on political and economic factors which affect South Africa's attractiveness as an investment destination," the AA said.
At close of business on Monday, the national currency was trading at R12.30 to the Dollar with Brent Crude Oil at $69.80 a barrel.
