Displacing the SRT as the new flagship model of the current WK2 generation range, the aptly named Trackhawk swaps the normally aspirated 6.4-litre Hemi V8 for the same 527 kW 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 as the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.

Connected to a significantly updated version of the standard issue eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic gearbox, the Trackhawk will race from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in a supercar rivalling 3.5 seconds, and on a top speed of 289 km/h.

Aside from its new heart, the Trackhawk also benefits from an electronic limited slip diff, Brembo brake callipers with six-pistons at the front and four at the rear, cast or forged aluminium 20-inch wheels, black quad exhausts, a Track mode and a rather curiously named Valet mode that locks out first gear and the steering mounted shift-paddles, limits power, deactivates the launch control and permanently puts the Electronic Stability Control on.

Differing only from the SRT externally by virtue of a slightly redesigned front bumper, Supercharged badges on the front doors and a Trackhawk emblem on the tailgate, the interior gets real metal inserts, Nappa leather with suede seats and an optional all-leather finish dubbed Signature Leather.

Pricing is projected to start at around $85 000 in the United States, although it remains to be seen whether the local arm of the FCA would deem it suitable for release next year.
