Slotting in between the standard GT and the GT C Roadster variants, the GT S, sans the folding fabric roof, remains mostly unchanged from its coupe sibling aesthetically, although buyers have the option of three exterior packages; the AMG Carbon Fibre pack, AMG Night Pack and AMG Chrome Pack.
The same applies to the interior which continues unchanged from other Roadster models, but which can be specified in two finishes; the AMG Piano Lacquer Pack and AMG Exclusive Trim in addition to the standard AMG Silver Chrome.
Riding on 19-inch ten-spoke light alloy wheels with a titanium grey, high-sheen or matt black set optional, the GT S also comes fitted as standard with the AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension as standard, as well as the AMG Dynamic Select system with five modes; Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, Race and Individual.
No changes have however taken place underneath the bonnet where the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 again makes 384kW/670Nm and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The combination allows the GT S Roadster to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and top out at 308 km/h.
In its home market, pricing kicks-off at €148 755 (R2 220 837).
