“From its birth as the GT concept, through the years of tuning and refining it on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, no detail was spared to create a true gran turismo,” Kia Motors South Africa CEO, Gary Scott, said in a statement.
“It is not about outright power, hard-edged dynamics and brutal styling at the expense of luxury, comfort and grace. Instead, it’s a driver’s car equally suitable for spirited long-distance driving and everyday enjoyment.”
Penned by award-winning designer Peter Schreyer, and already the recipient of numerous international awards, the Stinger will initially be offered only in flagship GT trim, with power coming from a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 developing 272 kW and 510 Nm of torque.
Mated as standard to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, Kia claims that the GT will dispatch the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 km/h.
Complete pricing and spec will be announced towards the end of April.
