Posted by carscoops.com, the i30 N Fastback follows the Veloster N showed at the North American International Auto Show last month as the third model in Hyundai's N line-up, and despite still being decked out in heavy masking, betrays its newfound go-faster identity by virtue of the N specific alloy wheels, red brake calipers, dual exhaust outlets, rear diffuser, bodykit and lowered ride height.
Touted as a rival to the Honda Civic Type R and forthcoming Mercedes-AMG CLA 32/36, the Fastback will more than likely come powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as the hatchback i30 N, which produces 184 kW and 353 Nm, or in the case of the Performance model, 202 kW with torque unchanged. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard with the top speed and the benchmark 0-100 km/h sprint expected to mirror those of the hatch.
Measuring 30 mm lower and 115 mm longer in overall length than the standard i30 Fastback, the N is also expected to get its hatch sibling's electronic limited slip differential, adaptive suspension and five mode drive selector (Eco, Normal, Sport, N and N Custom), as well as the three mode (Normal, Sport and Eco) sport steering, N interior trim and full suite of driver assistance systems.
No confirmation on when the i30 N Fastback would be unveiled in production spec has yet been made, despite reports suggesting later this year or even in early 2019.
