Speaking to Auto Express, Hyundai Vice President of High Performance and Motorsport, Thomas Schemera, said that the new model will be bespoke and developed as a standalone model “to strengthen the Hyundai brand [and] to bring more emotion”.
“I can tell you [that] Albert Biermann [Head of Hyundai Engineering] and myself are interested in hot things and have some ideas in the pipeline for a halo model - rest assured we are coming up with something,” Schemera was quoted as saying.
The yet as unnamed or unseen model will join the i30 N hatch, the imminent i30 N Fastback, and the Veloster N, as well as the rumoured Tucson N in creating a five-model line-up, although its exact date and time of reveal is shrouded in mystery.
According to the publication, there are also differences as to what type of vehicle the newcomer should be, with the most likely of options being a sports car or a performance sedan like sister brand Kia’s Stinger.
