Incorporating styling from the 8-series concept shown at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the banks of Lake Como in May, the new roadster, likely to retain the Z4 moniker as opposed to the previously reported Z5, adopts a more aggressive appearance with sleeker headlights and more rounded kidney grilles.
Known internally as the G29, the "Z4" will reportedly be build alongside its Toyota twin, the revived Supra, in Austria, but will only be available as a soft top unlike the hardtop only Japanese.
Although spotted on numerous occasions testing, lapping the Nürburgring and paired with the Supra, no technical details have yet been divulged, despite widespread reports that both will feature BMW supplied four and six-cylinder engines, solely linked to an automatic gearbox.
Meanwhile, autoguide.com has posted new images of the still heavily disguised Supra prototype, reportedly with production LED headlights. Seemingly inspired by those of the iconic A80 that ended production in 2002, the Supra will feature styling derived from the FT-1 concept shown in Detroit three years ago, and as per recent sightings, BMW derived switchgear.
Aside from the rumored all BMW engine range, the Supra will allegedly also feature a four-wheel drive hybrid drivetrain setup, with lessons learned from the company's running of the TS030 at the Le Mans 24 hours and the World Endurance Championship.
Both cars are expected to enter production next year.
